Friday April 28th was the day: the biggest stage race in the world started in Nijmegen with Boris in the first stage. The beautiful vest with the number 302 flew over the asphalt. After the first leg, the morning shift continued. Nils, Luc, Lieke, Rik, Hidde, Marijn, Yvonne and Sytze fought until the early morning. With fat Jeanette and two other runners at your side, you couldn't stop having motivation.
Unless you were on the morning shift. Because they had already set up the tents in Enschede with the afternoon shift and had gone to a party. The highlight of the evening? The 100 bitterballen for 20 euros. Fortunately, Steven, Lars, Bart Oudkerk, Stan, Bart van Gael, Zevus and Jeroen survived the trip. The sun started to shine and the ugly bata sunglasses came in handy after all.
The last group comprising Huub, Lorenzo, Marleen, Thijmen, Frank and Ilse completed the afternoon stage. While waiting for the switch next to the side, we danced along with the music of other teams, creating a kind of warming up consisting of 5 Isisians.
Finally, Michelle and Arthur were allowed to run the last leg in competition suits. Once you arrived at the athletics track in Enschede you could hear the Isisians rise above all the other teams to encourage them. After some penalties due to missing women and not enough people in our team, we still finished in 121st place.
Everyone did well and the party afterward was well deserved!
